The CST Garden Club Shares Dahlia Bounty
It all started over 10 years ago when forward thinking Cell Signaling Technology transformed a football field on corporate property into a community garden for its employees. Now about 15 members of the CST Garden Club cultivate food and flowers in a show of abundant community care. They grow all sorts of herbs, melons, squash, carrots, kale and of course, the beloved dahlias.
They also have a wonderful pollinator garden where butterflies and bees thrive throughout the season.
Jennifer Ziello and her son August started with pumpkins, but then got bit by the dahlia bug. Dahlias are a labor of love. The tubers must be dug up in the fall freeze and lovingly stored over winter for replanting in the spring. All the more reason to celebrate the generous gift of CST dahlias in our Labor Day weekend Dahlia Bloom Bar!
Lumière + Terre grows over 100 varieties. They truly capture the senses and it’s impossible to stop growing them once you’ve started. The shorter vase life of the spectacular dinner plate dahlias makes them a special treat to have fresh from the field, since they are difficult to get from traditional channels that require transport. Your Lumière + Terre signature designs this weekend will also feature airy bits, feathery spires, sparkles, texture and our eye for color and beauty.
To multiply all this bounty, CST is also matching Labor Day weekend sales up to $1,000! All proceeds benefit Beverly Bootstraps Food Insecurity Program, so every bouquet is a contribution to food justice and curbing hunger. Stop by the self-serve flower cart this weekend and pick up a bouquet to treat yourself and your community to beauty and nourishment.
Vase arrangements are $25 and wrapped bouquets are $35. Venmo, PayPal and cash accepted at the cart (sorry but no reserved bouquets, first come first serve). La Charrette aux Fleurs, as we call her, is just down the street from Lynch Park at Elm Top Lane. We will keep her stocked all weekend!
If you would like to participate in all this goodness, but can’t make it to the flower cart on Ober St. this weekend, you can purchase a bouquet via Venmo and Jennifer will deliver it to an elder care facility in your honor! So sweet! Simply choose the vase ($25) or wrapped bouquet ($35) option and write “elder” in the payment note so we know it is for delivery, and we will take care of the rest.
Our Venmo handle is @lumiereandterre or you can scan the QR code here, on instagram, or on our Dahlia Bloom Bar gallery and it will take you to us on the app. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend and big thanks to Beverly’s own Cell Signaling Technology and the CST Garden Club!
We love to hear from you and see your bouquets on Instagram. Help us spread the word!
